General Information about Myrtle Beach Theatres

Myrtle Beach and the South Carolina Grand Strand has become known as Branson East, - or is it that Branson is becoming known as Grand Strand West? But the offerings of the Grand Strand are more like Las Vegas without the gambling and with friendly sand.  Very much family-oriented, there are the beaches which have always been a major attraction, the golf courses which have reigned among the worlds finest in the last several decades, but NOW there are the SHOWS! Any list of theaters in the Grand Strand is obsolete almost before it gets published; they're just building new ones too fast to keep up.

Admission fees average around $27. Some theatres offer senior citizen discounts and almost all have reduced prices for kids under 16 years of age. However, if you are going to stay in a hotel, motel or resort in the Myrtle Beach area we recommend checking with your Innkeeper for their Special Discount Package offering. (Most have very good deals for their guests.) These packages vary widely in their inclusions and usually you can pick one just right for you (e.g., do you want dinners included?).

Productions do change - some more frequently than others. Our favorite was Snoopy's Magic on Ice at the Savoy which we saw twice (separate trips). Then, on another trip to the GS we fully expected to see Snoopy again but it had been replaced. Good show, very good show, of course, but if you want to know what you are going to see before hand, phone.  Almost all the theaters have toll-free numbers (see following list).

The Great American Gospel Fest
Coming to Myrtle Beach September 30 through October 3.

1999 promises to be the biggest year to date for America's premier Gospel and Christian music talent competition, The Great American™ Gospel Fest. For the past two years, preliminary and final competitions have been held at The Myrtle Beach Convention Center and House of Blues, North Myrtle Beach.
