Jefferson / West Jefferson
Jefferson is the county seat of Ashe County which sits astride the northern most part of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina (average elevation 3100 feet!) Mount Jefferson (and Mount Jefferson State Natural Area) is nearby and New River State Park is only a few miles more distant. Highway access is via NC-16 (there is an exit from the Blue Ridge Parkway here) and US-221.
