Part of the North Carolina university system, UNC-A - with a total enrolment of over 4,000 students- is beautifully sited on the side of a mountain just north of downtown Asheville in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Small by choice, emphasis is on undergraduate studies but some graduate degrees are offered.

Warren Wilson College - Swannanoa
Small, independent, undergraduate liberal arts college in the Blue Ridge Mountains just east of Asheville. Program based on "Triad" of academics, work and service.
