Kingstree

Nestled on the white sandy banks of Black River lies a community which defines its days and nights by the sun. Nowhere in Carolina can you imagine a more beautiful sunrise or sunset than in Williamsburg County; its presentation of colors is magnificent. To visitors, it's a forgotten gem, rarely seen in the larger, more hectic counties.

Like the sunrises and sunsets, there are many treasures in Kingstree and Williamsburg County. Rich in history, it was founded in the 1700s by King Charles who decreed that the straightest and biggest of the Carolina white pines were to be marked by an arrow - to be used as masts on His Majesty's ships. Thus the area became known as Kings Tree.

P.S. Not to make your mouth water but we are famous for our delicious barbecue. And a trip down the Black River will certainly convince you that we are truly a "Sportsman's Paradise."

Mullins

Mullins has been a farming community since the late 17th Century. Mullins' first boost came about with the completion of the railroad in 1853 (the depot survives and is a landmark in the city, today). The introduction of tobacco as a crop spurred Mullins to fame as the Tobacco Capital of South Carolina.  By the turn of the century, over 200 tobacco barns dotted the area. Today, Mullins is a well-rounded, wholesome community.   Yes, tobacco is still an important part of Mullins' economy.
