Rivers Bridge (Ehrhardt)
Rivers Bridge is the only state park in South Carolina that commemorates the Civil War. Toward the end of the Civil War, General William T. Sherman's Union Army forces were rolling through the South, slashing and burning with little or no resistance. Here, at a little place called Rivers Bridge, vastly outnumberedConfederates held the crossing for two days before being forced to retreat. The breastworks that guarded Rivers Bridge are still visible, a memorial. Educational programs and reenactments are held periodically demonstrate Civil War military life.
25 campsites, 2 of which can accommodate 40-foot RVs, and a dump station are available for our overnight guests.
