Historic Latta Plantation - Huntersville (north of Charlotte)

Located in Latta Plantation Park on the shore of Mountain Island Lake ( just 6 miles north of Charlotte) is historic Latta Plantation, a living history museum showing life in the North Carolina back country during the early 19th century. You will learn what it was like to be a planter, a slave, a merchant, or a yeoman farmer. Costumed docents offer regularly scheduled tours and impart little-known, interesting facts about the settlers of the area. Besides the ca. 1800 Latta house, you will find a kitchen house, a meat house, a well house, barns, and assorted other outbuildings. A reproduction log cabin shows how the yeoman farmers lived. Various barnyard residents interest youngsters and everyone else. During special events many different country skills are demonstrated.

From Labor Day through Memorial Day (winter schedule) the grounds are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10a to 4:30p and Sundays from 1p to 4:30p. Memorial Day through Labor Day (summer schedule) we are also open Mondays. The gift Shop is open until 5p. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
