Congaree Swamp National Monument - Columbia SC

Largest expanse of old-growth floodplain forest in America. Includes some of the tallest trees east of the Mississippi with hundreds of species of plants and animals. Designated International Biosphere Reserve. On SC-48 (Bluff Rd) about 20 miles east of Columbia. From I-77 take exit 5. From I-26, take SC-601 to SC-48. Follow brown and white directional signs after you get on SC-48.
