Tryon Palace and Gardens -

Completed in 1770 as the official governor's mansion and statehouse, the building contained the assembly hall, council chambers and various public offices in addition to the residence of the Royal Governor, William Tryon. On the shore of the Trent River, this building has been called, "...the most beautiful building in America." Even the gardens are world renown and are also open to the public. The State of North Carolina has websites devoted to Tryon Palace.
