Murrell's Inlet area FacilitiesNote: telephone area code is 843Atalaya - Huntington winter mansionAtalaya, the former winter home of the internationally famous American sculptress Anna Hyatt Huntington, is located in what is now Huntington Beach State Park. Surrounded by some 2,500 acres of native flora and fauna, the park offers many observation decks and walking trails to further enhance your enjoyment. The house, Atalaya, is a 55-room mansion with a 40-foot tower (Atalaya is Spanish for watchtower). The house is build as a large, square building enveloping a large, open interior court. Open 9a - 5p daily. FREE except in July & August when a small fee of 50 cents is charged. For more information phone 843-237-4440. Brookgreen Garden, a formal garden reminiscent of the old English gardens but generously endowed with over 500 sculptures and other works of art from many American artists (including, of course, many by Anna Hyatt Huntington) is just across the street.
