Ghost Walk

Costumed guides lead you on a 90 minute journey through the heart of historic Wilmington and introduce you to the dozens and dozens of ghosts that occupy residences, businesses and local landmarks.  The walk takes you down some of the most beautiful streets in America and is approximately 1 mile long.  You'll hear tales of duels, pirates, yellow fever, public hangings, murder, mayhem and other less fortunate circumstances.  Group and private tours are available as well as specially requested times.  Tour times during May are, Wednesday through Sunday,  8:30 p.m. A special Saturday afternoon show begins at 6:30 p.m.  After June 1st, tours start at 8;30 daily. Friday and Saturday there will be an additional walk starting at 6:30p.  Reservations are suggested but not required.  Cost is $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors and students. Children under 7 are free.  Tours meet riverfront at Market and Water Street.  Please call the ghost voice mail at 910-790-7554 for any daily updates and new times.

Moores Creek National Battlefield - Wilmington NC

Here was won a very decisive battle in the early years of the Revolutionary War. The challenge was to prevent the Loyalist (to the Crown) from taking control of North Carolina (which would allow the British to easily overcome the southern colonies). February 12th, 1776 the battle was fought and won. Other battles, mostly centered around Lord Cornwallis, were fought in the Piedmont, were fought as the British sought to gain control through the back door but failed there, too.

 USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial

One of our great and glorious ships of World War II, the USS North Carolina is now permanently moored across the Cape Fear River from Wilmington. Open daily, you can tour all eight decks. There is no way one can adequately describe experiencing the inside of this ship and imagining what the crews had to endure during those fierce naval battles. But this is an experience that should not be missed.
