Lake Wallace - Bennettsville SC

Located in the plush Pee Dee district near Bennettsville, this 500+ acre lake is winter home to a large variety of birds including wild geese and swans. Facilities (outside the wildlife refuge) include areas for boating and skiing, fishing and swimming.

Lee State Park

Lee State Park features a host of artesian wells plus one of the best preserved flood plain swamps in the Carolinas. This is right in the middle of the Sand Hills region which is especially nice for camping. There are 50 campsites, each with individual water and electrical hookups and a picnic table.

But for the horse lover, here is your spot! An easy to negotiate 12-mile trail is just long enough to be enjoyable but not too long to be tiring. And you don't have to bring your own mounts; horse rentals are available through the nearby Pleasant Valley Stables. For more information and reservations call Pleasant Valley Stables at (803) 428-2090.If you do bring your own mounts, the park has Stables (fee per stall is $5/night).

From I-20 take exit #123 and turn north on Lee State Park Road. The park is one mile up the road, entrance to your left. The park is 7 miles east of Bishopville.
