Goodale State Park - Camden SCThis 763-acre park is named in honor of N.R. Goodale, a local florist who was the prime motivator in acquiring the park. Facilities include a novice-grade, nine-hole golf course. This park, too, has a lake which has a touch of history in addition to its natural beauty. This was the site of an Civil War era mill pond. The small (14-acre) lake is open to fishing (bass, bream, catfish). It is almost impossible not to relax amid the enchanting cypress trees. There is also a two-mile canoe trail, a short nature trail and picnic facilities, and a meeting building. From I-20 take exit 98 (US-521) north to Camden. Turn right on US-1 (northbound) to county road 15. Turn right and the park entrance is just a little way up the road (on your left).. The 360-acre Lake Juniper provides fishing and other recreational opportunities. Eight one-bedroom cabins and seventeen campsites and two group camps are available (first come first served policy) in addition to the RV sites. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s depression days, Cheraw State Park has been significantly expanded and modernized. RV pull-throughs, Cabins, campsites, picnic pavilions, splendid lake fishing (bass, bream and catfish), - all the things we have come to expect of a modern state park are here. But for golfers, the new championship 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Jackson (even a pro shop is included) is a dream come true!
