Pittsboro
area BOAT RAMPS
There are over a third of a million boats registered
in Carolina. Most find their way to our fabulous waterways via boat ramps. Unfortunately
there is no single source revealing the locations of these ramps. We are working with the
Wildlife Commissions to build a list which will include directions to help you find these
ramps. This directory will be a-building for some time to come! We would certainly

Cape Fear River
(Pittsboro access): Chatham County - Corinth NC
From Pittsboro, take the SR-1012 split off of
US-15/501 at the south end of town following SR-1012 south toward Haywood. Just after you
cross over US-1 the road ends at SR-1011. Turn left, follow SR-1011 through Moncure and
Haywood, across the Haw River, to SR-1916 (about .6 mi beyond the Haw River bridge). Turn
right on SR-1916. Follow SR-1916 to its end and junction with NC-42. Turn left and go
another 1.3 miles to the Avent's Ferry Bridge.
Jordan Lake: Chatham County -
Farrington Point NC
From US-1 (coming either from Raleigh or
Sanford, exit on US-64 and head west toward Pittsboro. At Wilsonville turn right on
SR-1008 and follow SR-1008 (north) approximately 5 miles to ramp.
There is also a privately owned marina,
Crosswinds Marina, that rents fishing and pontoon boats. For more
information, phone them at 919-362-5391.
Note: there are 2 dozen ramps around the
lake (the above is the only one we have directions for). All are open only
during park hours EXCEPT a ramp at Ebenezer Church and a ramp at Robeson
Creek, both of which are open 24 hours. If you have more information, please
share it with us.
