BOAT RAMPS
There are over a third of a million boats registered
in Carolina. Most find their way to our fabulous waterways via boat ramps. Unfortuantely
there is no single source revealing the locations of these ramps. We are working with the
Wildlife Commissions to build a list which will include dirrections to help you find these
ramps. This directory will be a-building for some time to come! We would certainly
appreciate any information our visitors can e-mail us - to: editor@Carolina-Now.com

Eno
River State Park (Durham)
The Eno River valley is rich pioneer history,
geological
history, flora and fauna. Beautiful hardwood forests line the banks of the Eno River and
white water rapids give life to the river. A favorite area for canoeing but also great for
fishing along the trails lining the river banks. Want to just get away from the big city?
Five hike-in camping sites (about a mile from the parking lot) plus a primitive group
campground are located in Few's Ford access area.
Accessible facilities: The pathway from the parking lot to the park office is wheelchair
friendly as well as the entrances and the restrooms and water fountain. The picnic area at
Cole Mill Access and the park office have parking spaces provided for persons with
disabilities. The Cole Mill Access also has wheelchair friendly picnic tables, restrooms
and water fountain.
Fees/Discounts: No entrance fee. See Fee Schedule.
There are eleven official (marked) trails at Eno River State Park plus about a dozen or so
unofficial trails. All except the Cox's Mountain Loop Trail are easy to moderate (easy
along the river and moderate in the woods).
Pleasant Green Access provides river access for fishing and canoeing.
Bridle Trails--Horses are not permitted in the park.
The Few's Ford Access area has 2 picnic tables on the bank of the Eno River. An additional
15 tables and 4 grills are in the picnic area just beyond the loop parking lot
The Cole Mill Access area has 10 tables and 4 grills plus a group area with three tables,
a grill, and a nearby toilet.
There are many great fishing holes along this 11 mile stretch of the Eno River. Roanoke
bass or are native to this area. Typically catches can include catfish, chain
pickerel, largemouth bass, redeye, redhorse, sunfish and sucker. NC Wildlife Resources
Commission regulations are strictly enforced.

Canoe Access
Points
Canoeing is ideal along the Eno River. Caution, however, is advised before putting your
canoe in. This is a shallow and narrow rriver in places (sometimes less that 20 feet wide)
with many rocks. Experience has shown that you should have no less than one foot and no
more that three feet of water as indicated by the gauges on the bridge pillars at Pleasant
Green, Cole Mill, and Guess Roads. Before leaving on your expedition you can check river
height on the USGS web site» USGS Current Eno River
Flow Data
Canoe launch points are located at
- Few's Ford parking lot at the end of Cole Mill Road
- Pleasant Green Dam (the closest to I-85 and US-70)
- Cole Mill Road bridge in the Cole Mill Access Area
(parking on road shoulders at the Cole Mill Road is very limited)
