Chowan River: Gates County - Plymouth NC
1.2 miles to SR-1350 on NC-45 north from Plymouth. Right, .01 mile to area (Shoups Landing?). Note: this puts you on Canaby Creek which is a tributary of Roanoke River just upriver from Bachelor Bay (of Chowan River a/k/a/ Albemarle Sound).
Conaby Creek: Washington County - Plymouth NC
From Plymouth take US-64/NC-32/45 east (about 1 mi from city limite) to where NC-45 splits off to the left. Turn left following NC-45 about 3 more miles to the Conaby Creek access area.

How about a 16,000 acre natural lake surrounded by a plush, virgin forest yet nicely maintained campgrounds (including group camping) and picnic area. a fishing pier and a boat ramp? Motor boating is allowed; swimming not. The park has some very nicely routed nature trails plus periodic nature programs (to help you better enjoy the trails).
