Big Flatty Creek: Pasquotank County - Weeksville NC
From NC-34 at Weeksville, take SR 1103 to 1104 to 1108, approximately 6 miles from Weeksville.
Little River (see 'Little River' note): Pasquotank County - Hall's Creek NC
Approximate 9 miles south of Elizabeth City on US-17 is the intersection of SR-1140. Head east on SR-1140 toward Nixonton. About 3 miles from US-17, on your right, you will see the Little River (it isn't so 'little' here) and the access area.
Note: There are many waterways named 'Little River' in the Carolinas. Here we refer to three, one each in Johnston, Montgomery and Pasquotank Counties.
Pasquotank River: Pasquotank County - Elizabeth City NC
Editor's note: We have received the following unconfirmed notice:
"The Pasquotank ramp is no longer accessible. There is, however, a terrific 'newer' ramp in Camden County. Turn left (north) from 158, past the courthouse, then turn left immediately at the other side of the small bridge into the parking area. On the water you'll navigate a very short creek to the Pasquotank River. Turn left under the RR bridge and you're nearly at the same place as the old Knobbs Creek ramp."

There may not be any dinosaurs but when you sit in your canoe, surrounded by this ancient cypress forest (estimated to be over a millennium old), you almost expect to see one of those ancient reptiles. Canoes are available to rent and it's a short, easy paddle up Bennetts Creek to the cypress forest. Camping facilities are also available (fee).

From Hertford, north on US-17 to the SR-1300 split. Bear right on SR-1300, continuing approximately 9 miles to SR-1319 (just beyond the Durants Neck Post Office). Turn right and it about 1 more mile to the access area.

Chowan River: Gates County - Winton NC
From Winton take US-13/158 east, crossing the Chowan River to the first road on your right which is SR-1131. Turn right and it takes you back to the Chowan River and the access area.
Chowan River: Hertford County - Tunis NC
Take SR-1400 east from Winton about 2.5 miles to SR-1402 (sign points to Tunis). Turn left and follow SR-1402 to the Chowan River and the access area.
