Dennis Wildlife Center - Moncks CornerSituated on the east side of Lake Moultrie just north of Moncks Corner, this is a center for South Carolina's striped bass program. They also conduct game deer research here. Visitors are welcome 9a-4:30p weekdays. For example, you can rent one of their canoes ($2.50/half hour) and glide along the remnant of one of the oldest canals in America. An Interpretive Center of exhibits illustrating the use of canals for water transportation in the 19th century. . Perhaps you would like to explore Biggin Creek basin.with its wide variety of wildlife and flora. Boardwalks make it about as convenient as possible. The Swamp Walk is an easy 1.6 mile loop, the Creek Walk is a moderate 1 mile loop and the Canal Walk a moderate 2.8 mile loop Note: a parking fee is charged. for day-time users - $3 per car or motorcycle and $15 for vehicles with 15 or more passengers. From I-26 exit onto US-17-Alternate (exit #199) northbound towards Moncks Corner. In Moncks Corner, turn onto SC 6 (Main Street).and proceed through town, crossing US-52 to where it ends (RC Dennis Boulevard). Turn left onto RC Dennis Boulevard and proceed for about 0.2 miles to Stony Landing Road. You will see the sign for Old Santee Canal State Park Turn right onto Stony Landing Road and proceed to its end and the entrance to the park.
