Hickory area
BOAT RAMPS
There are over a third of a million boats registered
in Carolina. Most find their way to our fabulous waterways via boat ramps. Unfortunately
there is no single source revealing the locations of these ramps. We are working with the
Wildlife Commissions to build a list which will include directions to help you find these
ramps. This directory will be a-building for some time to come! We would certainly

Hickory Lake: Alexander County -
Dusty Ridge NC
From 140 exit 131, take NC-16 north 8.5 miles
to SR-1135. Turn left and follow SR-1135 1.2 miles to SR-1137. Left on SR-1137 then
continue 2.3 miles to SR-1138. Again, turn left and follow SR-1138 0.6 miles to SR-1185.
Now turn right and follow SR-1185 just 0.2 miles to ramp.
Hickory Lake: Alexander County -
Whittenburg NC
From Hickory take NC-127 2 miles north to
SR-1208, to SR-1141 to ramp.
Hickory Lake: Caldwell County -
Grace Chapel NC
From I-40 exit 123 take US-321 north to the
Catawba River Bridge. About 0.4 miles north of the bridge turn right (east) on Grace
Chapel Road (SR 1758) and go another 3 miles to SR-1757. Turn right (south) and it's one
more mile to the ramp.
Hickory Lake: Caldwell County -
Gunpowder NC
From I-40 exit 123 take US-321 north to the
Catawba River Bridge. About 0.4 miles north of the bridge turn right (east) on Grace
Chapel Road (SR 1758) and go another 3 miles to SR-1757. Turn left (north) and it's
another 1.3 miles to the ramp.
Hickory Lake: Catawba
County - Southwest of Oxford Dam NC
From 140 exit 131, take NC-16 north to
SR-1453. Turn left and follow SR-1453 to Lake Hickory Camp Ground Road and (1.2 miles) to
ramp.

Lookout Shoals Lake: Lookout Shoals - Catawba County NC
From 140 exit 131 (NC-16), follow NC-16
(north) 5.5 miles to SR-1006. Turn right (east) and go to Bunker Hill High School. Bear
left at the fork and continue another 1.3 miles to the access area.
