Holden
Beach area Public Beach Access Points
Holden Beach is accessed from Shallotte via
NC-130 or from Supply via SR-1115. There is a regional public beach access point just to
the east of the termination of NC-130 on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island. For

Long
Beach area Public Beach Access Points
Long Beach, Yaupon Beach and Caswell Beach are
on Oak Island about 7 miles from Southport. Oak Island has 8 miles of beach on the
Atlantic Ocean. Because it faces south the surf is usually quiet and the tides more
moderate. Long Beach has two piers and public launch facilities. There is a regional
public beach access point on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island right at Long Beach.
From NC-211 take NC-133 to Oak Island. At the end of NC-133 turn right, proceed to
Long Beach and the regional beach access will be on your left. For accommodations,

Islands area BOAT RAMPS
There are over a third of a million boats registered
in Carolina. Most find their way to our fabulous waterways via boat ramps. Unfortunately
there is no single source revealing the locations of these ramps. We are working with the
Wildlife Commissions to build a list which will include directions to help you find these
ramps. This directory will be a-building for some time to come! We would certainly

NC 130 to Holden Beach. Left and 0.2 mile, left.
The access area is on the left under the NC-130 bridge.
From Southport, take NC-211 west to NC-133,
follow NC-133 south to SR-1101, turn left and area is 1/2 mile on left.
At the junction of US-17 and NC-211 near Supply,
N.C., travel southeast on NC 211 approximately 7 miles to junction of NC-21 and SR-1112.
Follow SR-1112 south to access area.

Public Beach Access Points
There are no regional public beach access points
in Southport proper but there are several on the islands along the coast. Take NC-211 EAST
from Southport to Pleasure Island (via toll ferry - $3 per car). See: Kure Beach and

take NC-211 NORTH (toward Supply) to NC-133 and on to Oak Island. See: Long Beach. For

2.5 miles east of Winnabow off SR 1521.
From US-17 at Winnabow (about midway between
Wilmington and Bolivia) take SR-1521 east 3.o mi to the Rices Creek bridge. Rices Creek
flows into Town creek which flows into the Cape Fear River (which is more like a bay
there).
