Though owned by Clemson University, Stumphouse
Tunnel Park is maintained by the state of South Carolina under the State Parks system.
Named after the 1,600 foot long, never
completed, Stumphouse Tunnel which was to be part of the Blue Ridge Railroad, also never
completed, the park features Issaqueena Falls, an awesome waterfall named after the
legendary indian maiden, Issaqueena. (see: Issaqueena Falls)
There are no camping facilities, no drinkable
water (outhouse restrooms are available). There is a picnic area (don't forget to bring
your own water!).
The park also features two hiking trails:
- Issaqueena Falls Trail - a 0.1 mi, easy trail to
the falls.
- Blue Ridge Railroad Historical Trail - a 7 mile,
moderatatly strenuous trail which mostly follows the old Blue Ridge Railroad
right-of-way.

Directions: From SC-11* at Walhalla, follow SC-28 'west' (you will actually be
driving northerly), through Walhalla and up the mountain to the park entrance (on your
right).
*From I-85, exit #1, take SC-11 north (you can't
go south) to SC-28 at Walhalla. Then follow the above directions.
