Chester State Park - Chester SC Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s depression days, the 500+ acre Chester State Park has been expanded and modernized. 25 campsites ( 12 accommodate 33 foot RVs), picnic tables, nature trail (about 3 mile loop but very moderate in difficulty), boating and fishing are the usual facilities. Then there is an equestrian show ring, archery range, and complete meeting facilities. The 160 acre lake provides good fishing opportunities (bass, bream, crappie and catfish) but privately owned boats are prohibited. Row boats are available for $10/day. Park Hours in April through October are 9a - 9p (daily); November through March the park closes at 6p. Mailing address: 759 State Park Drive, Chester, SC 29706. Lake Wateree State Park - Winnsboro SC
The Wateree Dam impoundment of the Catawba River created this beautiful 14,000 acre lake between Great Falls and Camden. The park is on a lovely, pine studded island on the west shore (just off US-21) and is complete with camping and picnicking sites. Two boat ramps (launch fee $1; fuel also available) and tackle shop service the fishing enthusiasts. Enjoy fishing in Lake Wateree for bream, catfish, crappie, white bass, striped bass, largemouth bass and white perch.
Park Hours in April through October are 6a - 9p (daily); November through March 6a - 6p.

Take exit #41 off I-77, turn east onto secondary
road 41. Go to the stop sign at US 21,
Turn left onto US 21, go to first paved road and turn right onto secondary Road 101 (River
Road).
The park will be 6 miles south on the left. (about 11 miles from the freeway).
