Homewood was built as an
English style stone manor located in Montford, a post-Victorian neighborhood on the north side of downtown Asheville. Bela Bartok gave private performance on summer evenings in the music room; guests included Zelda Fitzgerald who visited the nearby Highland Hospital.
Homewood is now a Special Event Location. Both the music room and the study are wrapped in Cherry and have hardwood floors. Following its recent renovation Homewood now offers a caterers kitchen, bridal room and ample parking for large functions.
Images of romantic evenings swirl through your mind upon entering the grand music room. The mood cast by wrought iron chandeliers, alabaster sconces, and warmly
lit ceiling, transports you to another time. Two and a half foot window sills give base to windows that
stretch toward heaven.
In the study all four walls and the ceiling are crafted with cherry and studded with Arts and Crafts style
torchieres.
By the stone fireplace you can imagine Dr Carroll reading while listening to Mrs. Caroll, the concert pianist, play in the music room.
